Share the Plate

A program of giving coordinated by our Social Justice Team

Once each month, we share our collection plate with a member-nominated non-profit whose mission and values align with ours. Our Unitarian Universalist principles call for us to work for justice and humanity. By reaching out to the community, we are showing San Antonio who we are and for what we stand.

We provide our congregation information about the recipient organization each month. Our vision is that we will not only give money, but stay in contact with the organization and have members choose to get more involved with it. To that end, we currently maintain a list of previous recipients on our site, with links to the organizations’ websites.

In addition to raising awareness among the congregation and providing some financial resources, Share the Plate offers opportunities for our members to develop and deepen connections with these non-profit organizations.

The following organizations are scheduled to Share the Plate:
January 2014: Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
February 2014: National LGBT Veterans Memorial
March 2014: Community Responsibility Endowment Fund
April 2014: Green Spaces Alliance
May 2014: Martinez Street Women’s Center
